ATLAS LAYER

The world, as it lives.

Every organism in the atlas plotted on an equal-earth projection, one dot per country in its documented range. Drag to pan, pinch or scroll to zoom, and tap any country for the full list of organisms that live there.

90 living sources placed · Country-accurate placement · Geography · Culture

Equal-earth projection (Šavrič, Patterson & Jenny, 2018) — a compromise projection that preserves the relative size of every land mass, unlike Mercator which dramatically inflates the polar regions. Country boundaries from Natural Earth; dot positions derived from each organism's documented distribution, with bioregion fallback when an entry is broader than a single country.
